Supporting the future by preserving historic downtown Del Rio

Since 2002, the Del Rio Texas Main Street Program has actively supported the expansion of the downtown economic base by assisting in recruiting more businesses to downtown, advertising available properties in the district and assisting with historic preservation efforts and streetscape improvements. Del Rio’s program is part of the Texas Main Street Program and the national Main Street Four-Point Approach™.

Façade Assistance Program

Administered by the City of Del Rio Main Street Program Board, interested parties must complete an application to utilize funding from the Facade Assistance Program and conduct their project under the guidelines of the Main Street Program. Examples of completed projects include:

The Del Rio Main Street Program preserves and showcases historic downtown Del Rio, the heart of our community. For the benefit of present and future generations, the Main Street district secures our heritage and a lively pedestrian-friendly blend of commerce, entertainment, arts and education.

Mission

Interested and dedicated citizens throughout the community of Del Rio will collaborate with all levels of government, civic, and commercial organizations to forge partnerships honoring and realizing the Vision of the Del Rio Main Street Program. By revitalizing and preserving the central business district, partners will work toward an improved quality of life for the whole city, creating an attractive, bustling destination for residents, tourists and travelers. The Main Street program is dedicated to the restoration, preservation and promotion of downtown Del Rio and to its economic revitalization.

Volunteer Board

This board is volunteer staffed and represents merchants, building owners and interested parties in the area. The date and time of its monthly meeting, along with more information on the program, can be found by calling the City Secretary at 830-774-8715.
